Tia Nichols (b. 1997) was born in Newport News, VA to parents from Detroit, MI. Based in Detroit, Nichols is an artist, educator, community organizer, activist, and curator. She explores activating spaces, memories, and experiences to seek connection and raise awareness through her work. Her studio practice draws light on her interests in supporting our environment, how we impact the environment, and how we occupy and develop in environments. Her work expresses her curiousity about endangerment. To live, but only as though there were no tomorrow. She embraces life and its responsibilities by advocating for and reimagining landscapes we all inhabit and inherent. Nichols does this with the collective perspective in mind, one shared by visionaries and Afro Futurists.
